Don't ever under-estimate the worth of a guy like Boggs. I don't know how far
you go back but Boggs-like hitters used to be the rule and not the exception.
Boggs gets on base a heck of a lot more than a lot of ".290" speedsters. If
you look at how many runs he scored AS a leadoff hitter, you'd be
hard-pressed to find some of those *weenies* that did as well as he did (and
that's even taking Fenway into consideration).
