Of course one way to do this is what might be called shot-gunning.  This is a
method where you replace whole areas, such as the BBS software, modems.  If
you can try replacing the modems with a different brand just for a while.
That is easier than the program.
One question that does come around is does it do this with both lines, or
just one?  Try replacing 1 modem with one of a different brand.  The reason
for this is that I have seen many comments about USR modems.  They can be
very touchy both with getting the correct INIT string and with connection
with other brands of modems  I am not knocking USR although it might sound
like it
