| subject: | Echolist cleanup? |
KW> Maybe it's time for housecleaning - killing off dead echoes KW> will make it easier for sysops and users to find active KW> echoes and might help stimulate conversations by increasing KW> the per-echo traffic. KW> So, how do we go about doing this? sadly, "we" don't... it is up to the moderators and the distribution networks (ie: backbone systems)... the elist is "only" a moderator maintained list of echotags... there are some "backbone" systems that do prune "quiet" echotags but many do not because of the sporadic nature of many echotags... the best thing is to carry those that you see traffic in and prune out that that you don't... some sites are configured to autolink areas that have traffic in them that are not already in their configs... this would allow you to pick up areas that have been dormant for some time however, you'd then also be getting those that are hit with "is this area alive" posts ;) without a centralized distribution managament system, there is little way for anything to really be done... it is each system for itself in this area of configuration... )\/(ark* Origin: (1:3634/12) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 3634/12 106/2000 633/267 |
