G'morning David, -> * Crashing at 90kph is equivalent to falling one storey -> * Crashing at 110kph = falling 5 storeys -> * Crashing at 125kph = falling 9 storeys DW> I guess crashing at 200 km/h would be like falling from outer space, DW> since that would produce terminal velocity. Heh - the LTSA are very numerical about stopping distances, speed limits and the like; they employ 3D photography at crash sites to get their estimates down to fractions of centimetres. All in all, they use quantification to best motorists into full observance of their road laws. Worse, all their road offense fines are in carefully calculated cascades of integers. To have them commit this sort of outright innumeracy in physics is amazing - and totally unacceptable. Deplicating a crash at 200kph might well get them down to a realistic claim of 39 storeys, judging by the lessening differences they manage between reality and their hyperbolic estimates ! What ought to happen is that the creator of the outrageous claim ought to launched in a car from 157.4 metres so his or her terminal velocity could be carefully measured by their own expensive toys. After similar experiments at 1, 5 and 9 storeys, of course. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............ :-) ___ MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.45 --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: === Maxie BBS.
