I can't possibly imagine why anyone would consider any US politician an
interesting dinner companion.  Give me two bottles of merloit to get
through the dinner.  Pleaseeeeeeee!  Could we get a grip.  

Statesmen are fine, but we no longer have statesmen.  Authors, artists,
musicians, scientists, scholars, some businessmen, inventors, some
diplomats, would be far more interesting dinner companions.  Heck, my
veterinarian has better stories to tell than most politicians.
