Hi Gordon,

No maybe about it, you have a serious dip of about 2/3 of an octave!

GG> What I need, therefore, is a high pass crossover for the AL-IIIs.

Exactly.

The easiest suggestion would be to drive the subwoofer with a signal
directly from the pre-amp, before the external active crossover, and
drive the AL-III's amp from the high pass of the external crossover.
This assumes you can adjust the crossover frequencies from both
crossovers to match. All you need is a shielded y-adapter to split the
signal at the preamp. In the case of my Crown crossover, the lowpass
and highpass adjustments are seperate, so I can choose seperate
frequencies if I choose to do so - which I don't. I also have the
option to individually bypass the lowpass or highpass signal and run
the signal straight through (this is called flat on the Crown), which
is what your wanting to do because of your subwoofer crossover.
