Some Pi users don't have any other Linux machines.
It didn't occur to me that a Linux user would use a GUI to perform
bulk manipulations when we have such good CLI tools. Even if you're
not familiar with a particular tool it can be quicker to search a man
page than using a graphical file manager to do something repetitive
or needing special flags.

Fairly sure he means a Raspbian or other Linux desktop rather than a
Windows one (although you can get extfs drivers for Windows).
