subject: Doomed Religions

SA>Exactly, but people find it hard to accept salvation as a free
  >and unmerited gift of God, and seek to "earn" their way into
  >heaven with good works, law-keeping etc. Like today's spammers
  >and scammers, religion offers a variety of trinkets - indulgences,
  >plastic keys to heaven, rosarys, worry beads.... :(

Agreed. One of the churches I used to attend, the choir director there
had a neat lapel pin...two question marks. Being curious, I asked.

He asked two questions (hence the lapel pin design), as follows:

1) If you were to die in the next 5 minutes, would you know, beyond the
shadow of a doubt, that Heaven would be your home??

2) If you were standing before God Almighty, and He asked you to give
Him one reason to let you into His Heaven, what would you tell him??

My answers would be "Yes"...and "Because Of What Jesus
Christ did for
me on Calvary". It says in the Scripture that "He shall wipe away all
tears from our eyes"...but, when I meet Him, I'm going to ask for a good
cry first...as I can't understand why He would accept someone as
worthless as me.
