I have to agree with you, Ben, being a man isn't a mark against anyone.

Unless by calling that person a man you call her femininity into
question. Then it's "defeminizing" and it is an epithet.

Just as being a woman isn't a mark against anyone - unless his
masculinity is being called into question, in which case it's
"emasculating" and it is an epithet.
