I seem to remember there were 2 =
versions
of the R-4B or is it the R-4A I’m thinking about?.
The R-4B (sn#9182G) I have is a 10 tube job =
and doesn’t
have the voltage regulator tube. The only voltage regulation in the =
receiver is
at the PTO. Unregulated 150 volts is fed through a 6k/5w resistor to a =
1N714 zener in the PTO =
enclosure.

R-4B
question
Ian:
The R-4B still has the OB2 regulator. =
The R-4C
uses a solid state regulator, in keeping with Drake's transition from =
tubes to
solid state devices. You will note the significant reduction of the =
number of
tubes in the C series.
