Captain D's going strong here in my area.

Shoney's is a decent place as is Captain D's. Captain D's is seafood,
Shoney's more of misc burgers and cheap steaks sort of thing. There's one
near me with a decent reputation for reasonably good food for the price.

Grin, Canada's is a month before ours which makes sense as it's a harvest
fest sort of thing. USA standardized the date about 100 years ago I think,
but before that it varied with that year's crops and location. It was held a
few days after the main crops came in and were stowed for the winter. It was
actually bigger than Xmas because it would be held when it was still possible
to travel far by buggy, vice winter when the roads would make travel too
difficult.
