There is a small breed of poultry that grows no bigger than a dove.

You can place a tablet of oestrogen under the skin of the male's neck with a
special hollow needle. The bird becomes a capon and doesn't crow, behaving
like a hen. Capons were around in Shakespeare's time (the Justice, with fair
round belly with good capon lined), probably surgically produced then, bird
eunuchs.

There is no way to keep them fluffy chicks. If there was, some idiot might
try it with a human baby!

Why not keep the little quail? Very chick-like birds.
