A check for the petition to adopt or petition to change name could be looked
for in the county legal newspaper.  The fact that the adoption file # is 
nown
would be a help with that.  It is a way of possibly learning the birth 
mother's
surname.  Most counties do have a legal newspaper that publishes court
proceedings.  If there is not one, then the local newspaper should have
published some type of notice.   -Mary
