Yes, that explains a lot of behaviors by men
in Western culture (and others) as a read of
Dr. Martin Seligman's book of the same name
will reveal.

And he felt helpless, caught in a bind because
no matter how much lip-service women give
about him being the dominant one, he's still not
permitted to say "No" to the woman.  So,
he gives in to her and she retains the ancient
woman's place of dominance.  (Btw, "dominance"
has at its root the word for "home".)
