ml> what's the name of the ORV or OVL file? it should
ML> Max.ovl wasn't created. Which meant the overlayed compile failed.
ahhh...
ML> I got it to work in the end after much worming around.
ML> The overlayed version splits the 830 kb file into a 470 kb'ish .exe
ML> and 360 kb .ovl file.
cool!
now for our next trick... in the source, there is likely a place that
contains something similar to this pascal code from one of my own
programs...
ovrinit('postit.exe');
it would normally say this...
ovrinit('postit.ovr');
but i do a little trick where i bonary copy the ovr onto the tail end of
the exe... i distrbute only one program file (postit.exe in this case) but
it is overlayed O:)
the key to this trick being to get the name of the ovrinit stuff right O:)
{at}echo off
call comprels /b %&
packem postit
copy /b postit.exe + postit.ovr > nul
if exist postit.ovr del postit.ovr > nul
ml> likely be the same as the exe... what does maxd do that
ml> max doesn't?
ML> I have no idea. Better use of memory maybe.
that is a good guess :)
