| subject: | Ballmer gives Red Hat a lift |
From: "Joe Barr" http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/134918047_linuxshares0 6.html By Jason Kelly Bloomberg News ATLANTA ƒ ” Shares of Red Hat, the world's biggest distributor of the free Linux operating system, rose yesterday after Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer said Linux is a "significant challenge" to his company. Red Hat rose 78 cents, or 9.8 percent, to $8.70. Corporate customers are concerned about their budgets and may see "noncommercial software such as Linux and OpenOffice as interesting and 'good enough,' " Ballmer wrote in an e-mail to employees Wednesday. -- --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-4* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 106/1 2000 633/267 |
