my system call a file called startbbs.sh Which is a bash shell
Contents of startbbs.sh
#!/bin/bash
cd /home/bbs
./elebbs -N-1
---EOF--
This has worked for me, Nodes count up. only bug i've found is that if a
node crashed from a door or external link. the node will not be released for
future use. I found that after 2-3 months of the bbs running, users would
be connecting on node 30+ instead of 1. Solved with a cron job. at 11:45
my system starts broadcasting that it will be going down for maint in 5
minute intervals tellign user to end session. At midnight cron job kills
all elebbs sessions that are open. Shutsdown inetd, Deletes the
USERON.BBSfile which keeps track of nodes. performs nightly backup of
services and
bbs files. Runs the external door nighly events. Starts Inetd backup and
the bbs is ready to run again. Down time is about 6 mintues. The backup
continues after inetd starts backup dumping files to tape and exporting
offsite backups, as well as other jobs the server does. But the bbs can run
while there are running, since they have already been backed up from bbs and
I don't have to worry about locked files being opened.
