RT> Never run Solaris, so I cannot comment, but I have RT> gotten DOS doors to run RT> using DOSEMU in the past, When I updated my Linux RT> Distro (Slackware) DOSEMU RT> was no longer officially supported, and I never got around to getting the Can you tell me a bit more about how it worked? Many years ago I read that you don't need to run a fossil driver because there is something built in. Doors think they are talking to a fossil driver, and outside of DOS emu the linux bbs package is somehow able to let DOS emu take over the socket until the door exits. I'd like to understand more about how a door running in DOSEMU will work. RT> source and compiling myself, I run MBSE BBS, which is a RT> full featured Linux RT> native BBS package. I've been using Maximus since 1993 or so and keep my board running for nostalgic purposes. If I were to switch it to an other package then to me it would not be the same board. Maximus is being developed for Linux, though I'm not sure if they will support running DOS doors from DOSEMU. I'm hoping based on your description of how DOSEMU interfaces with a linux bbs, the maximus developers will see that it is (hopefully) simple to enhance max to support it. IMO, the bbs package won't be complete until then. RT> However I have ordered a copy of the current Open RT> Solaris to have a look at, RT> but from the sound of things hardware support is not RT> that great ... , will see RT> when it gets here ... That's right hardware support isn't that great yet because it has only been a few years since x86 support was introduced. If you're still waiting for your CD, I think the demand for the free cds was so big that they ran out and had to order more.
