-=> Quoting Patti Jones to Robin Arnhold <=-
Hi, Patti,
PJ> Well I guess I bragged much too soon about our weather. It's
PJ> going to either rain or snow this evening and drop down into the 20's,
PJ> then tomorrow it's going to be up to the 40's and then next Monday up
PJ> to the 70's again. Typical spring weather here, so this too shall pass
PJ> soon .
Parts of Wisconsin got as much as 28 inches of snow in the storm that
went through last week. Madison got enough freezing rain to create some
havoc on the roads and maybe an inch of snow which has since melted.
Mother has anywhere from 12 to 18 inches of snow in her yard and snow
banks four feet deep. 200 miles can sure make a difference in the
weather! We're definitely ready for some spring here.
PJ> Glad to hear that you Moms arm has healed. And
PJ> to know that the weatehr is such that you can go up and take her to
PJ> the doctor on Monday.
Thank you! The doctor is quite pleased with the progress of her arm. He
said it could have easily become badly infected. He also says that the
tendon to the ring finger of Mother's right hand is slipping, which is
causing the problems with her hand. He says that it will require surgery
to fix, but he wants to try to see if he can get some more swelling out
of Mother's legs before he turns her over to the orthopedic surgeon. It
looks like it will be sometime in May or June when they do the surgery.
PJ> I know there will come a time that I will have
PJ> to do the same for my Mom and Dad, and I'm not loooking forward to
PJ> watching tham as they grow older. So far they are doing very well at
PJ> 75 and 86 respectivly.
Yes, it hurts to watch your parents become less and less able to do
things and take care of themselves. There comes a point when one
realizes that one has become the strong arm for a loved elder, and it can
really it one hard emotionally. I don't care much, though, for the
alternative. My father died very suddenly when I was just 14. I
definitely wish he could have been with us longer. When I think of that,
I am glad to do what I can for my mother.
Take care,
Robin
