Greetings Ed!
RW>> Walmart, that reminded me of the DDRR. And basically, it is a
RW>> Halo antenna with a reflector used to make it a vertically
RW>> polarized antenna. The HF version uses the ground as its
RW>> reflector, while we used a slightly larger ring to make our
RW>> 27Mhz and VHF antennas. I even made one for UHF and it was
RW>> mounted on a CB mag base so I could take it with me anywhere in
RW>> the car.
EV> Reading about the Wal*Mart FM Antenna made me visualize a flat sheet
EV> of Hardware Cloth or Chicken Wire behind the Halo on that antenna.
Exactly. That is one method mentioned in the hand book on what to do for a
reflector on VHF. On 80 and 40, one can use a bunch of wires laid out on
the ground for that. When I get a round to it, I'll mount my 10m DDRR on
the tin roof over the back patio...
RW>> Dunno what happened to it since the move to Texas.
EV> Your Memory RAN! as Mine has.
We had a little Phillipino gal helping us pack and a lot of stuff went
into trunk of her car. Nancy had a lot of old 33rpm record albums, 8 track
tapes and cassettes that didn't make it to Texas either.
Have a day!
