HI
I had a small problem on 9/1/97, I was Unzipping files too look
at on my HDD, that was ok and then I started on a Turbo Pascal
Program which I have been working on for some time, and suddenly
ThunderByte started to beep at me, first off all I thought
that the program was not validated or just being fussy that I
have just changed the size of the file. Then I went to a Pascal
snippet reader, and suddenly ThunderByte beeped again at me saying
that the file size has changed, so I decided to go into TBAV to
have a look and see what is going on, and then I went to activated
TBAV and suddenly ThunderByte beeped at me saying that it has changed
size, so I went into the program any way and tried to scan the hard
drive but because it detected that TBscan.exe was infected it cut out
and refused to work, so luckily I had a copy of F-PROT on my hard drive
as well so I gave that a go and it worked fine without a beep.
This is what F-prot detected :
                   ******************************************
                   *                                        *
                   * C:\SCAN\TBAV\TBAV.EXE IS INFECTED WITH *
                   * THE 1644 VARIANT OF THE MAJOR VIRUS. *
                   *                                        *
                   ******************************************
Only 6 files were infected, but the point I'm trying to make here is
that always have to brand name scanners, 2 on disk and 2 on the HDD,
because you think that scanners are meant to have safe guards in them
so they them self can't get infected.
Cya..
