running Quicken Windows on IBM clone: twice: I start up Quicken and it sshows
initial menu, then instead of the register I get the notation "general
protection fault in module QW.exe at 0081:017D and systen hangs till I press
OK; then am sent back to the desktop. First time I used Scandisk (Windows)
and on restarting computer no error message.
second time: even after Scandisk I get the message. Tried deleting and
reinstalling Quicken. That gave me a fresh start which would work to enter
new data but I wanted to get back my previous data and use the files again.
I tried to import them but that gave me back my error message. The help
files in Quicken talk about the faults but do not help me solve the problem.
I ran Scandisk again, defragmented - no use.
I was running Norton Windows; the Norton System Doctor comes up as I start
Windows; conflict there - I doubt?? Query is: if I just abandon Quicken -
HOW can I reclaim the previous files - into ASCII or some word processor or
some other program where I can read them?
I gather that there are files created: I saved them as backup to floppies
but I cannot use them, EXCEPT for the notes file - QSD?
Will some program reclaim Quicken files - I gather that Microsoft Money
exports to Quicken but Quicken exports to nothing???
