Hi Erica,
Nice to meet you. Does it seem that the mail packets to/from Oz are
making it to the States in a somewhat timely fashion? Within the past
month John Feltham (a long time Aussie participant here) posted twice
that it was taking two weeks for our messages to make it to him. :-(
EL> In tonight's download I felt I was doing a time shift back to college

Maybe later you will chip in and assist Michael Martinez in explaining
Illich's ideas? From what Michael has written so far, I have to agree
with what some of the others have written as to Illich being somewhat of
a loon.
EL> I always send my children home on the first day of school thinking they

Perhaps this is just semantics, and I'm being picky, but...
Don't you mean that you send the kids home thinking the can _learn_ to
read, rather than that they _can_ read?
Sheila
