That WAS true, but not anymore. Most cellular systems are adding Caller
ID on cellular phones. Currently, most of the towers in the Bell
Atlantic NYNEX region are passing cellular phone numbers -- I got a call
back from someone who got my cellular number on their landline caller
ID!
Bell Atlantic NYNEX is also offering Caller ID (and Message Waiting
Indicator) on both the Sony QUALCOMM CDMA digital/analog hybird phone
and the AUDIOVOX MVX650 analog phone. Currently, only the Pittsburgh
region has CDMA digital service, but they'll be rolling it out in the
rest of their territory soon.
On the A side, AT&T Wireless in Pittsburgh (the Cellular One franchisee)
is offering Caller ID on their Nokia TDMA digital/analog hybrid phones,
but only if they're connected to a digital tower. If the phone latches
onto an analog tower, Caller ID doesn't work.
