Replying to a message of Jim White to Carol Shenkenberger: JW> You can also by cow knuckle bones at some of the grocery stores. Boil JW> one of those for him and it will keep him busy for hours. We do this JW> if we're going to be out for 4-6 hours and it DOES keep them busy! I don't boil the things, I just give one to the dog. Unfortunately, many if not most grocery stores, especially the big chains, use only prepackaged meat and don't have bones available. The 'Hy Vee' store in Red Oak (and other places) is one of those, its competitor 'Fareway' has butchers in the meat department and does have bones - they also package customers' purchases in white 'butcher paper' like they used to do back when I was a kid. I don't think anybody gives the bones away anymore, they take them out of the discard pile/container and package them just like any other meat purchase - complete with weight and price. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/300 34/999 53/558 106/1 116/901 120/228 123/500 134/10 SEEN-BY: 140/1 222/2 226/0 236/150 249/303 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 SEEN-BY: 261/1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 SEEN-BY: 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
