They have added something to make DOS doors work under DOSEMU. Even if the code can't be copied exactly, there will be useful information in the source. About DOSEMU not working on newer linux kernels, I can't comment as I have not used it. I've heard of something called DOSBOX which might be newer? I like running on newer kernels too.
