No.  I've used mirdir for *over* a decade, and will continue to do so.  In 
desperation I tried rsync _once_ in two scripts, to do essential backups last 
year (August).  I've updated the two rsync scripts per your suggestion, for 
completeness only.  Mucha gracias.
