BA>SK->I agree. The kids can learn typing skills in jr. or early sr. high.
BA>SK->That's when I learned. My two children just hunt-and-peck for now, and
BA>SK->the amount of typing they do for school essays and reports is so small
BA>SK->that it really doesn't matter.
BA>I strongly disagree. I think they should learn them as soon as they have
BA>the finemotor skills to do so. Hunt and peck is hard to unlearn. You
BA>probably saw my earlier post about this.
Well, I don't know what to say. I didn't have any trouble "unlearning"
hunt-and-peck when I first took a typing course at age 15. OTOH, I do
usually feel that something learned wrong is a bad idea, for just the
same "unlearning" reason that you mention. Anyway, I guess if my kids
had a teacher who wanted to teach them keyboarding, that would be fine
with me. Maybe, after reading what you write, I should say it would be
great? But I do know that I am not about to add "teachng my
kids keyboarding" to my list of "do at home" chores.
