| subject: | Dogs and food [1] |
CH> Can you just put the stuff in water or give it to them with an oral CH> syringe (The type used for giving infants liquid medicine, there's no CH> needle.) BA> Can't put it in the water because I can't be sure each dog will get Oh you have more than one dog. I understand. It is harder too when you have more than one dog and they require different dog food. I've noticed though some dogs once taught not to go to the other dog's dish won't... but you still need to keep an eye on 'em. And then even when they're on the same food hmm. Example: Abbie, our 4 year old Shih Tzu/terrior mix was putting on weight. lol.. Turns out she waits for Cosmo (the 11 year old S.t.) to finish noshing away as he does (he actually sits down sometimes as he eats. I am glad he doesn't eat fast, it's better for his stomach)- and then she'll eat whatever he has left plus some of her own. This trend has been getting a little less a problem since I pick up Cosmo's dish after he is done. (He never wants more later, but gets a bit in the morning. They both do. ) Two Bichon Fries I sat for a few times competed for food. The smaller one always gave way to the more aggressive one. (They were litter mates btw.) Should we interfere? I think so. We're pack leaders right? The smaller one however never eats much anyway. hmm. It seems perhaps we should let them work it out as long as nobody is starving to death? By the way. Have you noticed this at all? With pairs of dogs. One is always more aggressive and you feel sorry for the lessor one? Wishing he'd be tougher, stick up for himself? But maybe it's better to just let it be. The little guy will defend himself when he needs to... They do, do that. Come to think of it, Cosmo lets Abbie 'boss him' just so much. But if they both get a chew stick for example he guards his aggressively! He also likes to mark territory over where she pees. SO maybe it's a little rivalry thing. He just LETS her think she's the pack leader of their twosome. ((She lets him chase her, that's a sign of alpha female.) cind ... If it screams, it's best not to eat it. --- PPoint 3.01* Origin: Up a palm tree (1:124/6308.20) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 53/558 106/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 222/2 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 280/1027 SEEN-BY: 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 SEEN-BY: 2905/0 @PATH: 124/6308 5025 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
