Yup. That's another thing that Mike got me into... I was helping him
beta test something (probably RG) since I manage to do things just
enough differently to trigger those little bugs that otherwise manage to
stay hidden, and he suggested that since the author could usually be
found in BBS_CARNIVAL, I should post my findings there... Things didn't
work out quite as we thought, but I've been hanging around there ever
since... most lurking... ;)

Hope everything goes smoothly... I certainly understand the limitation
as I have a permanent injunction against lifting anything over 15 pounds
at all (ok, 20 in a pinch if I'm REALLY careful)...

Waldo's got it, for sure... Mike probably does as well... plus I have
it on my own computer, so could u/l if needed... It's BW-Y2K.ZIP .

I'll wait until then... :) I'm in no hurry... I actually have about my
full complement of boards to call at the moment, so am not actively
looking for more... ;) I'm old-school enough that I only use my real
name, and understand the verification process. ;) Probably wouldn't
use the fast QWK, since, even though I'm primarily there for the
messages (and offline, at that), I also like to enjoy the "flavor" of
the board...

SD> Maximus, if it's absolutely stock (mine's semi-stock especially in the
SD> message area), can be frustrating until you get the hang of it. But

My major problem was trying to read hundreds of genealogy messages a day
for starters... and then trying to figure out how to answer something
that looked promising... it took offline, and especially BlueWave, to
make it even half manageable. I'd tried a different OLR that didn't
make viable reply packets, as it turned out, so I got very frustrated,
back in the early days. After I learned BW, I'd download and upload
from FCC as well as Holodeck... ;) As well as other boards, of many
different types of software.

SD> I'm used to it and other Max sysops call (sometimes). I can add in

There's no point (now, more than ever) of trying to run a bbs just to
satisfy users, that may or not stick around... but making it nice, even
just for yourself as sysop, also usually makes it appealing to the
users... at least that's my 2 cents worth opinion... A working
bbs, with an available sysop, is the main thing I'm looking for... :)

SD> Telnet is fine and will always be available. Dialup is mostly for me
SD> and a few people who prefer to call me "direct dial" than over the

 SD> network) via dialup to.

It's nice to have both... :) (And I've seen some bits of Micronet on a
couple of the other boards I call... so far I've only lurked, of
course... )

 NB>> Nice one... :)

SD> You've got a ton of good ones that I've noticed. I can give you
SD> my rather small (640 lines) tagline file if you want.

I've been grabbing tags for many years now... I prefer to get them as I
see them and they strike my fancy... I have some that I'd probably
never actually use, but that I enjoyed enough to grab... (Thanks
for the offer, BTW... but I'll just grab as I notice..)

SD> ... Any wire cut to specified length will be too short.

Oh, so true... and holds for cutting fabric, many a time, too... :)

ttyl neb

... Illiterate? Me? Hah! I know who *BOTH* my parents are!
