Since I wrote that, I have seen a few articles that portray Katrina
as being God's judgement or Allah's wrath for this or that. I doubt
that New Orleans is any worse than Adelaide (my city), San Francisco,
London, Paris, Bombay etc etc. As it happened, the night of Katrina
was very stormy here & in much of Australia ... trees blown down,
houses unroofed, and a few people killed by falling trees etc -
nothing as severe as K, but it took priority on our news services.

This excerpt from a Sudanese Islamic "sermon" attributes Katrina
to Allah's wrath at America being under the "curse" of the Jews.

My understanding of God (not "Allah") is that he blesses those who
bless Israel, and curses those who curse Israel, and calls on us
to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. If Allah has cursed the Jews
and the USA, I don't know that Sudan would shine as an example
of a land that Allah has blessed...

Katrina Hurricane (1) - Friday Sermon on Sudan TV: Allah's Curse 
of the Jews Afflicted America, New Orleans No Longer "New" at All

Following are excerpts from a Friday sermon at Al-Shahid Mosque,
Khartoum, Sudan, delivered by Sheik Abd Al-Jalil Al-Karouri. The
sermon was broadcast on Sudan TV on September 2, 2005.

Sheik Al-Karouri: From this mosque we send a message conveying our
best wishes to America. If America wants to maintain what is left of
its civilization, it must free itself, as we say in Sudan, from the
curse of the Jews. Our Koran says that this (Jewish) nation is
accursed - those who have incurred Allah's wrath. The curse of Israel
has afflicted America. In the south of the US.... The state (sic)
called New Orleans is no longer "new" at all. Four-fifths of this
state is underwater, like the relation between land and sea in the
world.

All these are signs. If people want their countries to prosper, they
must make peace with Allah and avoid disputing Allah and His prophet.

Yes, it is only a part of the beginning of sorrows.

This is where I disagree with President Bush's (understandable) aim
to spread freedom & liberty especially in the Middle East ... it is
not peace as Jesus Christ gives it, but peace as the world gives it,
and is really just an illusion. 30 years ago, well, in the 1970s, I
believed that humanity could bring about peace through its own
efforts, but I gradually diverged from that view by reading
Revelation & seing that it would be an Antichrist who would emerge
and bring a false peace...
