CH> When my sister lived in Indiana there was no end to the poison ivy. CH> She says she's been luckier up where they are in Vancouver, BC. RN> Where I live now, there isn't much danger of coming into contact with RN> it or poison oak, but where I lived in Mandeville, it was everywhere. RN> Same thing for Gray, where I lived for a year. Nod. Just have to stay away from the stuff. I imagine though Roger, as most things do- poison ivy, being poisonous (to us) has a benefit somehow, if only to itself in re to not being picked and therefore thriving. I imagine there must be crittters who eat the stuff? And even plants we are safe with can have adverse effects to us or other critters. Since my other as of late research has gone no where so far maybe a little trip to "poison Ivy' sites might reveal some interesting info other than what we already know.. hmm. That's a tough call. .......... RN> I saw some bees for the first time this year yesterday. Janis said RN> that she hasn't seen any in an a long time because of some critter RN> that attaches itself to the back of the bee like a leech and RN> eventually kills it. We had some in our back yard last year. Remember I mentioned it in CK I think. And someone said bee populations rise in fall in cycles. ALso if you have certain flowering plants /trees in your yard that will attract them. I have NO idea what was attracting the bees to our yard. Except for a tomato plant needing pollinating perhaps... (IT was a very wet spring in DFW area in 07, that always gets the critter populations up. :) Saw some frogs !!! for the first time in Texas. As a matter of fact one wet Spring morning in 06, still kinda dark out.. I let Abbie and Cosmo out back to do their business. Right at the threshold was a big round THING.. I picked it up and OH MY! a FROG! lol! Or maybe it was a toad... Cindy ... When in doubt... No, don't do that either. --- PPoint 3.01* Origin: Up a palm tree (1:124/6308.20) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 53/558 106/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 222/2 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 280/1027 SEEN-BY: 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 SEEN-BY: 2905/0 @PATH: 124/6308 5025 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
