We in California have ben forced to run Gasoline with Alcohol(less than
 10%) as an Oxigenator to reduce emissions for many years.
BUT I stil think it is STUPID to take a FOOD crop and use it to make
the Alcohol.
And the jump in the price of Soybeans you noted is directly relatred to
US Farmers changing from Soybeans to Corn to get in on the Free Gravy
Train of Goverement subsidities for growing Corn that is for Alcohol
Production..
