That is indeed the beauty of it.  I worked the polls here in good old Clay
County several years in a row, and that's where the rubber meets the road,
as a politician of my acquaintance was fond of saying (he war also a light
colonel in the Army National Guard, and that's how Keys and I most often
came across him).  And basically, it does work, even though there are an
awful lot of sheep out there who will buy into the most outrageous and
egregious garbage.

But that's another rant.

Indeed.  Ferrying the ballot box back to the Supervisor of Elections office
was kinda neat, in my view.  One Democrat and one Republican usually did
the carrying.  Again, checks and balances.  And of course, the box was
sealed up six ways from Sunday and all documented and like that.
