I think they would, if there was enough incentive to enter it. It's a
great way to satisfy your creative self, making something useful from raw
materials. I personally wanted to be a proto-type builder, which my
training as a T&DM allowed me to do, eventually. Most T&DMs who stay with
the company who apprenticed them, move up to engineering if they're good.
