You made some excellent points in this post. Regarding the number of books
in the Bible, I saw an interesting piece on the History Channel which
stated no one really knows how many books of the Bible there might have
been. It appears there were so many books written about the very popular
story of Christ, there were possibly thousands of books (scrolls)written.
Only a few have been recovered as it was stated there was a shortage of
firewood in the years following the writings. Religious scrolls were
plentiful and found to be more important to be used as kindling than as
prophetic teachings. The ones that were recovered and saved from fires are
in fact what one would consider yet another book of the New Testament.
