| subject: | Is Pluto a planet? |
->> Well, Mercury is considered a planet and it isn't very much ->> bigger than Plut Pluto is about the same size as the moon. ->> Some argue that our moon is much t big too classify as a ->> proper moon and that earth-moon system should be classified as ->> a double planet. DW> This is just playing with words. Our moon's orbit is always concave towards the sun. It is for this reason that some assign the double-planet status to the Earth-Luna system. I believe the same is true of the Pluto-Charon system. It is also probably true of many pairs of astereoids. This does muddy the waters, but I think it's more than just a play on words. ---* Origin: Big Bang (1:106/2000.7) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 106/2000 633/267 |
