CT> Nit! :-)
Not really, since it was the main thrust of my original comment,
no. };)
CT> BN> I don't think anyone would argue that the novels are children of
CT> BN> the parent show.
CT> Nor would I, but I don't think they are superior either.
Exactly, which is why the novels should never be assumed to take
precedence over the show itself. And unfortunately, a lot of
people feel they should, which is why we have conflicts so often.
CT> BN> This is true. But do the novels then take precedence over their
CT> BN> Creator? Don't think much of a case could be made for that one.
CT> Not precedence over, but give them their due credit as vehicles
CT>which to explore other events germane to the overall story.
Quite agree. But as noted, sooner or later you get people who'll
tell you that i the two conflict, then it's the novels that are
right & the show that isn't. That's hardly the most intelligent
way of looking at it.
CT> BN> with is the fact that a number of people do in fact take the novels
CT> BN> as superior to the show. This makes a sum total of 0 sense, to me
CT> BN> at least. :)
CT> I agree!
Perzactly.
CT> BN> Uh, could you run that one by me again?? The novels are correct &
CT> BN> the show they wouldn't even exist without isn't? Hmm. This one I
CT> BN> think I may have to do some extra thinking on....
CT> Think SUBjectively, not OBjectively. Look at each reader/viewers
CT>POV.
I am, which is exactly I made the point -- see the immediately
above, after all. ;) Simple fact is, some of the SUBjective folks
take their own as The One True Trek to the exclusion of all others,
which is an extremely narrow-minded POV. They're not _willing_
to recognize they should be subjective about it. We can see that
& they can't, which is where the problem arises.
