Why?    In the tube feeders, there is no contamination of the water.
It's not placed under any perches where droppings will fall, and the
birds can't/don't bathe in it.   It gets filtered, cold water placed
in it every other morning.  It's been that way for 7 years with no
problem, and my birds are healthy, happy and active.
