subject: Advocating overthrowing the gubmint

Well, here I am; back again after a hard day in the trenches of
promoting rational anarchism. Worked the election today as a poll
clerk. Secretary, to be specific. There are four "clerks" per
table. A Scrutineer, who handles the ballots, the Secretary, who
identifies voters, and two clerks to watch us both.

You'd think a political system that consistently cranks out so much
fodder to bitch about would leave itself wide open to some juicy
criticism from a cynic; wouldn't you?

However, there is actuallly not a much I can criticize. Altogether
it's a pretty well balanced and checked system. The Scrutineer can't
stuff the ballot box because the Secretary keeps him honest, and the
Secretary can't juggle the numbers because the two poll clerks keep
him honest, and once an hour during the day a representative from
each of the parties drops by (or is allowed to, anyway), to pick up
the running tally of how many have voted to keep us all honest. And,
I'm sitting there thinking to myself, if we don't think the dozy
bastards have been honest enough this is our chance to throw them out
into the street to starve.

Lot's of all kinds of very persnickety bureaucratic annoyances as
well, none of which I really minded given that they were all to
ensure that the exercise of power being exercised by Us The Pipples.
So I must have signed or initialed about a hundred pieces of paper of
official balloting seals (the sticky tape kind, thank you and ha ha),
and so affixing thereunto them by authority such weight and import as
made of them official dockumynts.

And first thing tomorrow morning I'm going to start bitching about
whoever won of course.
