Marty -

True....  I tend to think in terms of CW!!   :-)

For tuning up the linear or for CW, the Carrier control 
works fine.   If you just "have to" work SSB, you can either 
rely on the linear ALC, reduce the Mic Gain for the proper 
scope display, or adjust the TR-7 ALC control (bottom of the 
cabinet) to the max level required by the linear.

I guess I'd opt to get the linear ALC set up properly.
