I added "RUN=C:\OS2\CACHE.EXE /LAZY:3 to config.sys
which halts the boot with " read ahead is disabled-Press enter
to continue" which will be a pain to put up with. Maybe it's
supposed to be in "startup".

Checking later with the cache command gives

[C:\]cache

          DiskIdle: 1000 milliseconds
            MaxAge: 5000 milliseconds
        BufferIdle: 500 milliseconds
        Cache size: 2048 kbytes
3 Lazy write worker(s) are enabled.
1 Read ahead worker(s) are enabled.

Previously only one lazy write was enabled
so it does work. Now to wait and see if any
noticable differences surface.
