G'morning Herman,

I do, but not for the first time...

What has happened is that my new eye works well on long distances
without lenses, and even adapted to the old lens reasonably over
the period my foveal odema took to clear away.

The new lens needed the eye to reverse adaption, and was hampered
by high expectations. Initial use was a matter of frustration,
and with a day or two's practice that seems to have gone as new
eye and lens got used to each other...

Incidentally, these lenses are large by request (5cm or more
wide) but there's still a significant gap at the periphery. Recent
experimentation shows I depend when driving or playing ball on the
information coming through this unglassed gap...

Indeed, I think I reported earlier that, with the cataract and
the later infection cutting off foveal vision, I was delighted to
determine that the right eye still contributed much with its
peripheral vision.

Especially fascinating was the discovery that under either
handicap, autostereograms still worked for me... an interesting
insight into the capabilities of awareness or consciousness
itself..

:-)
