GLad Schatze doesn't. SHe sounds off when there are people about, or the
cat from up the street that likes to hunt bugs in the wooden retaining wall
in front of our house late at night. wHen she sounds off somebody's
outside moving around or on the porch. THat's probably the one part of her
training she really has down well at this point.

I remember years ago. Yah here it comes, another Buddy story. WAs getting
ready to go out of town for a week. WAs leaving a friend to feed water
walk and take care of BUddy. buddy was over pawing at him, and I asked
BUddy if he wanted out. HE says "speak buddy."

I explained to him BUddy was discouraged from that behavior. IF my dogs
sound off that means be alert, something that's not regularly around is
here. I discourage the "speak" thing for anything but security
alert.

Schatze isn't a bird dog, of course. rOtties were herders when first bred
as I understand it, and she's good at that. HER favorite spot is in the
hallway by the bedroom where she can look into the kitchen to see if
mommy's fiddling with food, or watch my lady at her computer, or me here in
my office/radio room.

           Richard
