Shrug. A bird in the hand...

Besides...the general corporate attitude these days is that it's
not enough to keep making money. What they want to is to keep
making *more* money...that is, increase the profits from one
quarter to the next, one year to the next.

As long as Hammer is doing that, her bosses will believe that she's
doing what she's been hired to do.
