AFAIK, SIO and Vmodem don't need to use dates... all they are are serial 
drivers. :)

The only file that I know of that SIO uses concerning a date is in the 
unregistered version, where it writes the hidden file OS SIODT to keep track 
of when to start displaying the "register me" message.
