| subject: | Echolist cleanup? |
-=> Quoting Kurt Weiske to All <=- KW> Maybe it's time for housecleaning - killing off dead echoes will KW> make it easier for sysops and users to find active echoes and KW> might help stimulate conversations by increasing the per-echo KW> traffic. KW> So, how do we go about doing this? When moderators kill echoes, 1 or 2 self-appointed fidocops have been grabbing the echotags for themselves and keeping them in the echolist in perpetuality. When you add an echo to your system, there is no guarantee that the echo is even being distributed, let alone "active". Many others are not even Fido echoes. AmberNet and FamilyNet are 2 of the largest non-Fido groups which enter echotags into the echolist. Kinda hard to do what you suggest about the situation when the echolist is not mentioned in P4 and is really an unofficial document or "piece of paper". ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
