I called that board again yesterday (Sunday) and he had finally gotten
back to me.  The BBS software is PCBoard and the Zmodem is DSZ.  And he
says that several other people use Telemate without any problems.
After reading that, the BBS decided to 'insult' me again by again
messing up my mail download.
It's got to be some odd combination of things between his board & my set
up.  There isn't really anything in Telemate to fiddle with that could
cause something like that.
I don't know, but after the problem with the file and losing two mail
packets, I've decided I can't trust it to use it on my mail BBS where
the mail packets are 400k-600k a day.
Telemate may be just an innocent victim, and I know that nobody else has
had problems like this, but I simply don't trust it. If it can happen on
one board like that it could happen on my mail board.
