Hi Debby,
>-> Yokosuka, Rob was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Providence which was

DTD > We we in Misawa. It was terrific there. Thurs mornings the
ousekeeper
DT > came in, we had a cup of coffee, I went to the commissary and then went
DT > to the ceramic shop or to class. The commmissary delivered my groceries
DT > to my house and when I got home my house was clean, my groceries put
DT > away, the laundry and ironing done, the kids clean and happy, and dinner
DT > cooked. All that for less than $15.
Misawa was the centre of a bad earthquake in 1968. Did quite a bit of damage
there at the Base. Fortunately, we were in Yokosuka, but I was in the
bathtub with water up to my neck when I heard - click, click, click. It was
the venetian blinds swaying back and forth hitting the window frame.
Then I realized the waves in the tub were getting higher and higher. The
dilemma - get out and stand in the doorway after getting the kids who were in
bed, or stay in the tub and let them find the tub on top of the stove (since
I was on the 2nd floor) after they were able to get through the rubble......
The shaking subsided without any damage, I went in to check on the kids and
6yr son was sound asleep, 3 yr daughter was jumping up and down in her crib
saying, Mommy, Mark 's been shaking my bed.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh - the excitement
>-> I did get a good Origami book while I was there, and for Christmas

DT > I've found paper several places around here. It makes an excuse to go
DT > to Little Tokyo too. I'm going to my favorite bead store at the end of
DT > March beginning of April in San Francisco if you want me to get you
DT > some.
I just received a catalog from NASCO and it has quite a bit of origami paper
in it. It seems to be pretty reasonable.
For a copy call 1-800-558-9595 and ask for the arts and crafts catalog.
It has lots of goodies in it. Has 412 pages.
Thanks for the offer to get the paper from Little Tokyo.
Happy crafting
Donna
