The Big blue salesforce is impressive when given a direction. In server-land there is a quiet acceptance now that stuff will be moved to linux (if not tomorrow then when the kit is EOL'ed) (Note to Frank: EOL=End of the Line i.e breaking & needing replacement). Tie the Big blue Salesforce to the Oracle one & the HP one &......well that's the corp server market sewn up. Now come the serverside apps, a fair few of which are app-platform based rather than OS based (e.g. built on Oracle stack or the IBM Websphere/DB2 stack etc). Sony et al will sew up the embedded market for linux (home elec & mobilephone-PDA) & that leaves the desktop. When big deals start happening there (e.g. the Munich thingy & the Thai subsidized PC'es deal) as frequently & in a similar way that serverside deals are "no longer big news".....then all sorts of ducks will fall.
